Course Description
AP Computer Science Principles is a college-level computing course that introduces students to the foundational concepts of computer science and explores the impact computing and technology have on many aspects of our world.
Students are exposed to multiple programming languages and development environments, but the focus is on problem-solving, computational thinking practices, and understanding how computing tools and techniques can be applied across disciplines. The course aims to broaden participation in computing and appeals to a wide range of interests by showing how computer science impacts areas like cybersecurity, robotics, computer vision, arts, and simulation. Students are prepared for the AP Computer Science Principles exam, which evaluates performance tasks as well as concepts covered in the curriculum. Qualifying scores can earn college credit and/or placement.
