AP Human Geography is a college-level course that introduces students to the systematic study of patterns and processes that have shaped human understanding, use, and alteration of the Earth’s surface. Students employ spatial concepts and landscape analysis to examine human socioeconomic organization and its environmental consequences.
Students learn how to use and analyze geographic data, maps, and models. They study economic interdependence and how economic, political, social, and cultural processes shape cultural landscapes at local, regional, and global scales.
The course prepares students for the AP Human Geography exam by developing geographic skillsets like spatial analysis, data interpretation, and application of geographic theories and models. Qualifying exam scores may earn students college credit.
